Is protecting our environment a deciding factor in your vote for mayor?

During the debates, mayoral candidates spoke about the importance of protecting our environment. But what does that commitment look like beyond election promises?

In June 2021, Wilmot Township Council unanimously endorsed TransformWR, Waterloo Region's community climate action strategy.

In 2021, I was a coordinator with 50by30WR and joined community advocates and environmental organizations in delegating to municipal councils throughout Waterloo Region.

Now Climate Action WR has invited municipal candidates to sign its 2026 Climate Candidate Pledge to show their continued action.

I have signed the pledge.

Environmental protection is connected to the decisions our municipalities make about farmland, groundwater, land use, transportation, energy and infrastructure.

How important is environmental protection when you decide who to vote for? And what environmental action should Wilmot prioritize over the next four years?
